At the end of school year, the students from 9th Grade, are gonna be able to:
English Language Arts (ELA)

Develop their ability to analyze and interpret literature by citing strong textual evidence to support their understanding of both explicit and inferred meanings in texts.
They will identify and analyze the development of central themes or ideas, observing how they evolve through specific details and summarizing texts objectively.
Students will explore complex characters, examining how their motivations, interactions, and development influence the plot and themes.
They will interpret figurative and connotative language, analyzing how word choices impact meaning and tone.
Students will also evaluate how authors structure texts and manipulate time to create effects such as tension or surprise.
They will examine diverse perspectives and cultural experiences in world literature, compare representations of subjects across different artistic mediums, and analyze how authors draw on and transform source material.
Students will independently and proficiently read and comprehend literature, including stories, dramas, and poems, at the high end of the grade complexity band.

Throughout their writing, students will use transitions to create cohesion and employ domain-specific vocabulary where appropriate.

Students will master capitalization, punctuation, and spelling, including the use of semicolons to link related independent clauses.
They will apply their understanding of how language functions in different contexts, making effective choices for meaning, style, and clarity.

The general objectives of this course include developing a solid foundation in the principles of chemistry, such as the structure of atoms, the periodic table, and chemical reactions.
Students will learn to identify different types of matter, understand the properties that distinguish them, and explore how substances combine and change during reactions.
Additionally, they will engage in hands-on laboratory experiments to apply their theoretical knowledge, enhance their observational skills, and foster scientific inquiry.

The 9th grade EMOZI program focuses on social-emotional learning (SEL) to help students develop key life skills.
General objectives for this program may include:
Self-Awareness: Helping students recognize and understand their emotions, strengths, and areas for growth.
Self-Management: Teaching students to manage their emotions, set goals, and practice self-discipline.
Social Awareness: Encouraging empathy and understanding of diverse perspectives, cultures, and backgrounds.

They will analyze online tracking, weighing its benefits and drawbacks, and take a position on its use.
Through discussions on digital reputation, students will examine how social media posts can influence perceptions, develop strategies for responsible posting, and recognize online behaviors that may harm others.
Additionally, students will define and address misinformation, using lateral reading to verify the accuracy of information they encounter online.
